The weekend of February 9, 2001 was a big weekend for Amy and I - not because it was a special date in our illustrious history or anything, but because it was the first weekend that we spent away from the chalupas.  I of course have been away from them many times for work, but Amy had never spent a night away from them, so it was a big step for us.

We decided to spend a weekend at a B&B in Norfolk, CT called The Manor House.  Norfolk is in the northwest corner of the state, not too far from Lime Rock, Caanan, etc.  Little did we know that Norfolk is nicknamed "The Ice Box", as it regularly has the coldest temperatures in the state due to its elevation and wind.

The place itself was really nice - it was built in the 1800s, and was adorned with Tiffany stained glass windows throughout the first floor and furnished beautifully throughout.

Here's Amy on her way in...

Our room was the "Lincoln" room - not that he stayed here or anything, but there were a few books on Lincoln on the dresser, so there you go.

A shot of the other side of the room, complete with the Lincon books!

Our windows overlooked a large back yard, which would have been great to walk around in if a) there wasn't a foot of snow on the ground, and b) we weren't in the coldest place in all of CT...

Here's where we spent a lot of our time - in front of the fireplace.  We had a fire going every day, and just relaxed and listened to the fire crackling away...
